Arts Education

Art is the song of creation, that is where imagination and art serve as a major index of our thinking process and understanding of the world we live in. Art in different mediums, provides a stimulating environment for people to explore and express themselves. Our studio provides a safe and supportive haven for sharing creative ideas and concepts with peers, other artists and the community at large.

Creative development is a vital component of the whole child and the “holistic model” for early childhood education. More importantly, there has been a strong connection linked between creativity, happiness, and one’s emotional health and well-being. Art is the song of creation, that is where imagination and art serve as a major index of children’s thinking process and their understanding of the world they live in. Art in different mediums, provides a stimulating environment for children to explore, while providing a safe and supportive place for sharing creative ideas and concepts with peers. Creative expression gives us all the platform to become aligned and synchronized with our senses. Through our network of artists and connections in the art community, our collective group inspires and motivates the younger generation. The Art Sanctuary Program provides children the opportunity to work alongside professional artists and creative adults alike. This relationship can be very interesting and motivating to the young learner if the child is allowed sufficient exploration time that is needed to develop and finish ideas without posing restrictions on the process.

To foster the development of the whole child, in all developmental domains, as creative skills are fundamental to successful learning and future academic success. The Art Sanctuary's mission is to  provide an inclusive, safe environment with ample opportunities for children to explore different art mediums within the program's four main components.

Curriculum

Children and youth will gainfully develop an understanding of the historical values in Performing Arts, Film and Theatrical Performances. The integrated curriculum provides for hands on experimentation that results in producing small plays and short film/videos throughout the school year and it's seasonal festivities, and plenty of opportunity will be given to the younger children as they gradually develop a sense of autonomy and competence, when allowed the freedom to act and think differently.

“...creativity and the imagination are important tools for everyone in learning, interacting, growing up; and later in work and play, in self-knowledge, in partnership, and in helping to solve the world’s problems.” Mark Wagner ~ Creative Advisor
